Sunny days means I must get out and make the best of the situation. The days of being warm are ticking down. We roll out of Phoenix on December 26th and will be pointing our rig back to Wisconsin to figure out life. Katie and I are taking different approaches with our time in the desert. While she lounges in the sun before going for a run I roll out to the desert in search of adventure. We packed a motorcycle after all. Let's go find some cool stuff.
AH!!! A desert tarantula crossed the trail while I was riding. Imagine my surprise rolling up to a 5 inch wide spider. I mean seriously, look at my face.
On the days I'm not riding the bike or Katie isn't in the sun, we look for other things to do. Yesterday we loaded the old man into the truck and took a trip up to Sedona AZ for a little sight seeing. Hanging out two hours to the north of the city at around 4,000 feet in elevation is a beautiful landscape setting. Getting out here for a brisk walk in the wild reminds me of how much I treasure the adventures that I have had. Connecting with the world and nature has a way of putting my mind at ease.
The crisp air brings about a feeling of renewed spirit as we walk through the red rocks. I love being out here, but I still miss home. The frozen tundra beckons us back for reasons unknown. In Wisconsin the weather is frigid and the scenery is flat. Look past those things and it is still home. Friends and family mean more to us than cruising the US anymore. That being said... we'll enjoy it while it lasts.
