Day 183
Wildwood FL

Day 3 is going to be a chill day. I've got a little project for Penny that needs to be addressed. A few days ago I spent about an hour crawling around under the RV looking for anything that was loose or needed to fixed. Why you ask? I've got a lot of free time. Like a lot. I also enjoy fixing things and in this case it would be called "Preventative Maintenance". Penny has been good to us and I want to return the favor. My search was not fruitless. The windshield washer fluid jug had broken two of its mounts and was only hanging on by two more. The plastic was badly cracked and had become brittle from many years of being too close to the radiator and going through a ton of heat cycles. I kiss Katie goodbye and head down to the local junk  yard to see what treasures I could find.

B&S Auto Salvage located in Wildwood is where I ended up. It's a small yard in the Florida backwoods that was poorly laid out. Seemed more like the type of place where you call and they go get your parts for you. I stumbled in with a tool bag and the guy behind the counter sent me in a general direction to find what I might need. There was no organization to the lot, and most of the cars were downright inaccessible.

See that leaning tower of death above? There is no way a company should let people walk by this kind of stuff. Some other idiot may have climbed up into that third car for a part he needed. Not me... no way. I keep cruising the yard and come across a trashed RV. Luck was on my side. The washer fluid tank was in one piece and real close to the measurements I wanted to make the swap an easy job. The lady behind the counter let me leave their place with a new to me plastic tank and pump for a grand sum of $10.

The jug gets set out on a piece of wood and the mounting holes are filled with plastic epoxy. Once it sets I'll re-drill the holes where I need them and wire the pump up to work on the big girl. While I wait for the epoxy to set, we decide to stack up some miles and set off down the trail for our last night here. Tonight turns into a longer walk than usual. Eli gets left behind as we rack up three miles of beaten path. We're going to miss this place. It was nice.
