Day 283
Youngstown NY- Streetsboro OH

Wind blows into the campground to the tune of 20 mph. The drive west today will be against a stiff headwind. That's always a good time in Penny. Driving the RV is like sitting in a bowl of jello on a skateboard. A real stiff suspension that transmits every bump in the road but still leans and sways side to side. The jello part is hanging on to the steering wheel. A side wind gust will prompt me to turn the wheel a whole bunch without very much happening. We take a trip to the lake shore before leaving on down the highway.

Our drive turns into a much longer affair than I had wanted. To avoid the tolls the GPS gets set and we get ready to take off. First off I have to wait in line at the dump station. Some genius in front of me is walking around nice and slow talking to another rv'er. I see him finally borrow his sewer hose and it doesn't work. So what does genius man do? He pulls the valve and dumps his entire black tank on the ground in the general area of where the sewer is supposed to go. For those of you not in know, black water is your toilet tank. I can see this will be the day of stupid people. I can feel it. Sure enough, the day continues to produce dumb folks out of thin air. One of those dumb people turns out to be me. I made the mistake of trusting the GPS without verifying the path it took us. We tack on 41 extra miles by dropping due south instead of hugging the shoreline. Then, while crossing Pennsylvania on a back road a guy backs down his driveway and pulls right into the road we are coming down. I slam on the brakes and hit the air horn. He stops a foot short of me needing to take the RV in for some massive body work repair. Three more hours pass and we pull into a campground south of Cleveland.

A man gets in his golf cart and guides us to our site. In the site is a pickup. Another 5 minutes passes as I helplessly stare out the window watching the neighbor slowly mosy his way over to move the truck. He was kind enough to swing wide across our lawn when he parked his trailer earlier in the day. I've had my fill of stupidity today. We'll set up and call it a day. Ugh.... life on the road.
