Day 289
Monroe MI- Beverly Shores IN

Two days was a short time to be here. I feel like there was a lot more of Detroit that I wanted to see. Time stands still for no one, and that includes us. Our plans for returning to Wisconsin are on schedule. We do our morning routine and get Eli out for his walk. Rain threatens the day with the looming grey skies overhead. Today will be a drive in the wet once again.

We miss being in the desert. If you would have asked me two years ago what I was least looking forward too the desert would have been the answer. My perspective has changed drastically on what the country looks like. A nice dry day with no humidity can be a blessing. And those sunsets, oh those magical color filled sunsets draped over the mountains are to die for. Instead of that blissful color we get the rainy spring skies of the east coast and the mid-west. Although we are still technically traveling I am already preparing for interviews when we get home. The first one will be in a few days and I have nothing to wear. All of the dress clothes in my possession had been thrown in the trash the day I quit Catalent in May of 2017. Penny swings off the highway and we spend an hour walking the mall looking for a new outfit to impress some strangers. I really want this to go well. The company sounds like a winner and does something I could be proud of. An important aspect to what I really want to do with my life.

With shopping completed it's back to the road. Today we cover 240 miles to go from the far east side of Michigan all the way to Indiana. A few posts back I said Cuyahoga Valley was our last National  Park. Uh... I forgot one. Indiana Sand Dunes is our last National Park. That's the kind of impact our travels have had. Ten straight months of driving around the US has gotten us to the point that we don't pay too much attention to what is coming up next. Our travel plans were made months ago and we just follow the calendar across the eastern half of the US. We wake up in the morning and go "Oh look, tomorow we leave for Indiana Sand Dunes. Is that another National Park?" It sure is and they have a place to stay across the street. Dunewood Campground s $25 a night with no hookups. All we get is a piece of pavement to park on and a picnic table. It's only for two nights. Tomorrow we check out the dunes, and the day after that we get back into familiar territory. Only 4 days to go.
