Day 174
Keaton Beach FL- Inverness FL

Lesson learned. We are better than rookie travelers. Sure we make rookie mistakes, but look up at the day count on the title. We've been on the road for 6 months straight, and a year ago we had another 6 month stint. So Katie and I took the time last night to figure out the next week and a half of travel. Florida's water management district comes up big again and provides us a place to stay for free. Need to get away into the heart of southwest Florida? Check out the SWFWMD website and book an awesome place today.

The road is is a bit on the narrow side. This class A is a big girl. Penny is 8'6" wide and 11' 10" tall. Take into account the 32 foot length and all of a sudden the road looks a whole lot smaller. By far the biggest thing I worry about is the rear overhang when driving her around tight corners. You see, the back wheels are not all the way in the back. A good 10 feet of painted fiberglass hangs out past the rear wheels.
Think of it like this. Put your finger under your phone at the bottom and turn the front like a car. Pretty controllable right? Now move your finger about a 1/3 of the way up and turn the phone. See how the bottom turns out into space? Lots of time that space on the road has cars, trees, children, and snow cone stands.

I take it upon myself to do a little tree trimming. I can only assume that the fish and wildlife officers would not be happy about this, but I do it with the utmost care and respect. Low hanging branches and some that jut out into the road get a quick prune to make it accessible. Penny's paint is in good shape, let's keep it that way.

Penny follows Shirley like the lead dog of a pack. She'll check for traffic and serve as a support vehicle in case the road gets too soft. Half a mile down the road yields a pleasant surprise. A huge 4 acre open green space next to a river. There isn't another camper in sight. We'll spend the next three days lounging out in the swamps enjoying some peace and quiet. I'll just check my phone for signal and.... dammit. No signal. Three more days of no G's. Looks like the blog will be behind some more.
