Day 8
Las Cruces NM- Deming NM

Picture
Another day of packing up and heading down the road. Goodyear Arizona is our final stop for this trip. We have been taking our time putting on the miles for trip West. If we really wanted too this journey could have been done in four days. What's the rush? We've got time to kill and some new stuff to see. The relentless winds have covered the road in tumbleweeds. Could be worse. There could be standing water in the washes from recent rains. Oh.... there is that too. I hope it's not very deep.

Our little hop across the puddle brings us into some old stomping grounds. This little gem of a place is somewhere we have been before. It's 13 miles out of the way and the majority of the campsites are on a first come/ first serve basis. One thing for sure, we do remember it being a quiet place to grab some shut eye. Neither of us thought we would ever be back. Take a look back at our first time here two years ago. Trip #1

Connie the camphost puts us into the group parking section. All the other spots are full but that's ok by us. We still get electric and water plus use of the dump station for $14 a night. An absolute bargain compared to some other places. Home gets unhitched and set up for the next two days. It's early in the day so we set out to do some exploring. Back in town the local museum is free for folks to browse through. Expectations of a rinky dink hole in the wall were soon vanquished by the collection of goods inside. This place is pretty big and well laid out.

An hour or so goes by and we've seen enough. On the way home we swing into a local butcher shop with bars on the windows and no other white people in sight. We're tourist for sure in this part of town. Friendly faces get us what we want and  then we set out to Wal-Mart to grab the left over essentials. Back home it's usual business of a dog walk and then some good ol' fashion chair sitting. Today's front porch view brought to you courtesy of the Little Florida Mountains in south central New Mexico. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon. Not bad at all.
